2018 WA Primary Teacher of the Year

Mr Anthony Horn was this morning recognised as the 2018 WA Primary School teacher of the Year. This is a wonderful achievement for a highly passionate and dedicated teacher.

2018 ACEL Fellowship

Associate Principal, Gayle Higgins , was last night awarded a Fellowship by ACELWA for her significant contributions in the field of education.

Shaun Tan Awards

West Beechboro Student Sarah Dimasi was awarded 3rd place in the acclaimed Shaun Tan Art Awards in 2017. Art Specialist Teacher, Mrs Yvonne Arpino, attended the evening to see her young charge celebrate her award.

Top Marks for staff

Two staff have been named as finalists for the WA Education Awards. Mr Anthony Horn was one of 4 finalist named in the running for 2017 WA Primary Teacher of the Year. While Ms Kelly Wylie will be in the running to be named as WA AIEO of the Year. The winners will be announced in December.

Girls Science is a Game Changer

Our Senior girls Science Club took part in the 2017 Game Changers Competition conducted at Murdoch University.

T20 Do it again

The school’s T20 have again won the local competition in 2017. Later this year they will compete in the Regional competition conducted at Yokine Reserve.

Josh Dorozenko

Scholarship Award

Mr Josh Dorozenko was awarded a scholarship by the Department of Education, through the Professional Learning Institute, to commence a Masters of School Leadership at the University of Western Australia. Josh became the 5th staff member to be awarded one of these highly sought places.

Mining Challenge

Senior Students from year 6 won the Mining challenge hosted by Kiara College in November of 2015. This is the second year our students and their classroom teachers have competed in this competition.

20/20 Cricket

Senior cricket team, participating for the first time in the 20/20 competition at Altone Park, walk away as victors.

Noongar Health and Wellbeing Association

The school commenced a three year partnership, beginning in 2015, with Noongar Health-and Wellbeing Association, funded by the Federal Government. This has enabled the school to run an after activity program two days a week for Indigenous students and a cultural program one day a week during the afternoon sessions.

Two senior students, Timothee Huet De Froberville and Zakiya Draper, awarded science prizes by SciTech in recognition of their outstanding achievement

Awarded an Indigenous High Achievers Grant

Awarded an Indigenous High Achievers Grant in recognition of our outstanding achievement in literacy and numeracy for Indigenous students for the 4th consecutive year.

Principal, Mr Ray Boyd, was recognised as the 2014 Primary Principal of the Year during the WA Education Awards

Perth City to Surf

Mr Daniel Sullivan features in the Perth City to Surf celebrations promotion after he competed in the half marathon event in Western Australia’s biggest community event.

Education Awards 2013

Most recently the principal, Ray Boyd, was acknowledged as a state finalist for Primary Principal ( 1 of 4) in the highly prestigious West Australian Education Awards. In 2012 he was also acknowledged as a semi-finalist.

In 2013, Miss Kelly Forder was awarded a full scholarship by the Department of Education, through the Professional Learning Institute, to commence a Masters of School Leadership at the University of Western Australia.

2013 Mrs Rachael Lehr successfully attained Level 3 Teacher Status.

School Recognition

West Beechboro Primary School was recognised as a semi-finalist for WA Primary School of the year (1 of 8) in the highly prestigious West Australian Education Awards in 2012. These awards recognised the outstanding contributions that the school was making to improved student achievement and the quality of its educational programs.

West Beechboro Was selected to participate in the Early Childhood iPad Initiative in recognition of the significant improvement in student reading and numeracy achievement as measured by NAPLAN

Beginning Teacher of the Year Award

In 2012 Rachael Lehr was awarded a Beginning teacher of the year Award at the Western Australian Education Awards. She also featured on the cover of the state wide distributed, School Matters , magazine. In this same year she was nominated for the Prime Ministers National Science Teaching Award  for the work that she had done in delivery high level science programs from K -7 and playing a significant role in developing  sequential program across the Coalition of Schools.

Semi Finalist in the WA Education Awards 2012

Kellie Taylor was recognised as semi-finalist in the Western Australian Education Awards in 2012 as WA Support Staff Member of the Year. This was in recognition of her incredible work as a Level 3 Special Needs Assistant. Kellie now manages the school’s finances and forms an integral part of the business management team.
